Spray painting and colour matching
We use advanced paint-system technology and our paint system database to identify your vehicle's OEM colour code and access the manufacturer-specific paint formula. Using this formula, we mix the colour and then spray-test and fine-tune it on-site to ensure an accurate match to your vehicle. Once matched, the repaired areas are professionally refinished and baked in our spray booth, helping achieve a seamless finish with no noticeable colour difference.

Why a colour match is harder than it sounds
Two cars off the same production line are not always the same colour by the time they reach us.
Paint moves with age
Sun, washing and years change a finish. Matching the code alone can leave a new panel that is technically right and visibly wrong, so it is matched to the car in front of us.
Mixed here, not ordered in
We mix on site, which means the match is made against your car rather than approximated from a tin someone else poured.
Booth, not a corner of the shop
Colour is sprayed and baked in a sealed booth with filtered air, because dust landing in a wet finish is the difference between a repair and a redo.
Blending into the next panel
Even with precise colour matching, it is not always possible to achieve a perfect match to the existing paintwork due to age, exposure and variations in the original finish. For this reason, we blend the colour into the adjacent undamaged panel, creating a smooth transition between the new and existing paint. This helps minimise any visible colour difference and ensures the repair flows seamlessly into the surrounding panels.

Panel work, then colour matched and baked in our own booth. Naz or Louis is across the job from the first assessment through to the final check.

You get the car back
Back to its pre-accident condition, and clean. Where you are entitled to one, we can help arrange a hire car, and drop-off or pick-up where it is needed.

Questions we get
The things people ask before they call
How long will the repairs take?
It varies with the availability of parts, how big the job is, and how quickly the insurer assesses it. On a simple repair we get the car back to you as fast as we can without cutting the repair short to do it.
Can I choose Fineline even though the accident was my fault?
If your policy includes Choice of Repairer, yes. That clause lets you nominate the repairer rather than take the insurer's allocation, and it applies to at-fault claims as well.
Do you deal with the insurance company for me?
Yes, and it does not matter who you are with. What we need from you is the claim number; the insurer will not talk to a repairer about your car until the claim exists.
Can I get a hire car?
Often, but the insurer decides it, not us. It depends on your policy and on whose fault the accident was, so ask us early.
Do you do restoration work?
No. We are a smash repair shop and we keep to accident and collision work.
